Bloomsburg Field Hockey Remains Undefeated
BLOOMSBURG — Three underclassmen scored for the Huskies as the Bloomsburg University Field Hockey team defeated Mercyhurst College by a score of 3-0. Bloomsburg moves to 5-0 (2-0 PSAC) on the season.
Freshman Jamie Vanartsdalen (Philadelphia/Lower Moreland) scored on a breakaway at 31:22 that ended up being all the Huskies would need. Three minutes later, freshman Venessa Witman (Oley/Oley Valley) scored on a rebound to put the Huskies up 2-0. Early in the second half, sophomore forward Ashley Heckard (Millerstown/Greenwood) added another goal on a pass from junior Maribeth Brozena to round out the scoring attack for Bloomsburg.
In goal, junior Tracey Hudak (Sweet Valley/Lake-Lehman) had four saves for the Huskies as Bloomsburg out shot Mercyhurst, 26-7.
Bloomsburg will host Slippery Rock on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m.
